Oh boy, this is probably my favorite challenge to you ALL YEAR LONG.
Why?
Well first of all because massages are Ah.Ma.Zing! But also because they are truly good for you.
- Promote relaxation and stress relief – with as busy and stressful as life is, we ALL need more relaxation
- Improves circulation and keeps skin looking young
- Decreases chronic pain – have frequent headaches? Or muscle pain? Try regular massage therapy
How?
The easiest way to give it a go is to call a reputable company and book a massage. Most cities and towns have several good massage therapists these days. If you aren’t sure who to call, ask around – your local doctor or chiropractor probably has some good recommendations for you. In medium-sized cities you can expect to pay at least $1 per minute. So a 60 minute massage will run about $60. It is more expensive in larger cities, but most studios have various specials – often a first time promo or some type of monthly deal, so definitely check those out.
You can also consider checking out Groupon, Living Social or the like – I see massages almost daily on those daily deal sites.
Once you find someone you feel comfortable with, I’d suggest trying to schedule a massage at least twice a month. Years ago I had horrible weekly headaches, but after beginning to receive twice a month massages (with a wonderful therapist at our local hospital), they went away. As long as I keep up with it, I rarely get headaches. However, if I miss a month or two, they come back. For me, that relief is worth every penny!
Still too expensive? Make a deal with your significant other or best friend to trade massages. You might not receive the same benefits as a professional massage, but I bet you’ll still gain some relaxation and stress relief!
Looking for more methods of stress relief? Or pain relief? Try essential oils – there are some wonderful therapeutic grade essential oils available that can prove very helpful for stress relief, pain relief and more! If you are curious at all, check out the Oil of the Month Club – it’s a great way to learn about essential oils without breaking the bank and without feeling overwhelmed!

Hi, I am a massage therapist myself and I enjoyed reading the article. There is just one thing I would like to add, always make sure to ask the massage therapist how much training they have and where they learned there profession.Throughout North America, there is a variety of different regulations for Massage.

My sister was just talking about how she’ll sometimes get headaches after work. It’s interesting that your headaches went away once you started getting massages twice a month. I’m pretty sure my sister is stress and a little tense with her job. Receiving a massage regularly might be the key to reducing her headaches and some of her tension. After reading this, I think I could also benefit from this.
I’m a massage addict! It is great way to promote relaxation, massage therapy is so much more. Massage helps manage pain, reduce stress, improve circulation, decrease muscle tension, ease breathing difficulties
Massage for me is like meditation. It’s about clearing out my mind and being as present in the moment as I can possibly be.
this is a very long form post which is rich in useful info. It seems I need a massage right now
I applaud you! this is a very good detailed post about the benefits of a message. Not many people understand the effects of a good massage and what it can do for you
