Clean Sweep – Week Two

Clean Sweep – Week Two

Did you get through the whole house last week?  Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t, just move on to step two for what you DID accomplish.  Hey, one or two rooms is better than no rooms!  If you did anything at all, you are ahead of where you started.  A bonus to this week is that you might be able to make a little cash to help fund your next vacation!  Or at least a fun night out. Step two might take you longer than step one – it really depends upon your current level of clutter and disorganization.  I like to do this type of process a few times a year, so it’s very doable for me to continue on with my one or two rooms a day process.  If you’ve never taken the time to do a whole house sweep, you might want to just pick one or two of the rooms that need de-cluttered and organized the most and focus on those rooms this week. Let’s get started. This week you will need your notebook, pencil, and three large containers.  One will be for trash (you’ll be amazed that there is new trash just a week later, but there will be some), one container is for things you will donate or sell and the third is for items that belong elsewhere in the house.  If you’ve ever organized your closet you’ve probably used this method before.  Simply start at one spot in the room and go through EVERYTHING.  For each item, ask yourself three simple questions: Do I love it? Do I use it? Do...

Early Mornings Make Me Happy

That first sip of hot coffee, a cuddly blanket with a warm kitty curled up at my feet.  Add in my current reading material, and THAT is the perfect way to start my day.  Once I have a few moments of easing into the day in that manner, I am ready to do some yoga or pilates, work on a personal project and get ready with plenty of time to spare. How I love a great start to the day. Getting up early to enable such a perfect morning routine is a struggle for me, but the days I am successful are ALWAYS better days.  I’m more productive, less stressed and just plain enjoy life more. And since enjoying life and creating a healthier and happier life is exactly what I promote here, I thought I’d share one of my favorite resources to help you create a better start to YOUR day: I’ve taken the online course myself and gleaned quite a bit of useful information.  This time around, Crystal is doing a live version – for extra motivation.  The class starts April 9th and registration ends then, so if you think you need a little push in improving YOUR mornings, sign up soon!  I’ll be participating and I’d love to have you join me!  Go check it out HERE. What makes up the perfect morning for you?  I’d love for you to share in the comments!...
Go to Bed!!!

Go to Bed!!!

Just as critical as eating well, getting a good night’s sleep will help keep you healthy this fall.  Without adequate sleep our bodies start to run down and can’t function as well.  We start making poor food choices, we become more susceptible to colds and we aren’t able to fight off germs as well as if we are well rested. I’m sure you’ve noticed how you often get sick after a time period of being really overworked and worn out?  Late nights, stress and early mornings almost always lead to illness. Getting a good 7 to 9 hours of sleep allows your body to do its job to restore and repair. You may want to use the sleep time calculator, to see how much time you personally should sleep. Cut that time short and eventually you’ll start feeling it. Need some tips for a good night’s sleep? Create an evening routine to get your body ready to go to sleep. If you do the same few things every night at about the same time, pretty soon your body will recognize that this means sleep is coming soon.  This will make it easier to fall asleep quickly. Set a bedtime and stick to it. Don’t do that “one more thing” – if it is bedtime, go to bed.  This might mean leaving some tasks undone and that’s okay.  When you are well rested tomorrow morning you will be able to tackle them more efficiently (and with a better attitude). Try diffusing a calming essential oil or even rubbing it on the bottom of your feet – this can be very...
Kick Start Your Life

Kick Start Your Life

How has it felt making small changes each week for the last month?  Good I hope! Just in case you’ve missed a week, I’m including a quick summary for you: Week 1:  Kick off – Have Fun Week 2:  Kick off your Exercise Week 3:  Kick off your Eating Week 4:  Kick off your Home This process is quite similar to what I do in my signature program “Make the Most of Every Day.”  The biggest difference is that I tailor the program to YOU.  Working together, we concentrate on your goals, desires and dreams. We also look for the little things that will make each and every day better and figure out how to implement them in your life – whatever it looks like right now. This program is a great starting point to creating a life you love and it’s a fantastic way to test having a life or health coach and discovering if it’s the missing link to reaching your dreams. If you are curious and want to learn more, click over HERE and check out all the details.  I’d love to work with you and help you create a happier, healthier life!...
Spring Cleansing – Personal Care

Spring Cleansing – Personal Care

When I thought of areas I need to “cleanse” in my life, personal care was right up there.  This is a hard area for me.  I’m sure you’ve read/heard/been lectured to/ etc. about how important it is to think about what you put on your skin.  After all, your skin is the largest organ in your body & quickly absorbs everything you put on it (one of the reasons I love my essential oils so much!). But … Those organic, healthy products are EXPENSIVE!  Plus they often don’t seem to work very well. I struggle with this.  I do.  The cost-conscious side of me wants to buy my products at the drugstore using a coupon.  The beauty loving side goes into the specialty stores willing to shell out big bucks for miracle creams.  I’ve done both, for sure. It’s a slow and hard process to switch to a healthier regime, so I’ve decided to do it in pieces.  This is my path and I hope it encourages you.  Instead of breaking up with all my personal care products at once, I’m replacing them with better for me versions one by one. It’s less stressful, less expensive and much more manageable.  Hopefully in a year or two, my bathroom cabinet will be a lovely minimalistic home to a few well-chosen brands or homemade concoctions. Since it’s going to be a slow road as I experiment and try to wean myself off old ingrained habits, I’ll be sharing each new step as it comes.  This means this isn’t going to be a pretty “look at my instant success” post like last week.  ...
