It is HOT here in the Midwest right now!

For us, summertime means a lot of outdoor entertaining.  That often involves cocktails.

Although I love a good margarita, I hate that all the mixes I have found contain high fructose corn syrup, lots of sugar and food dyes.  YUCK!

So, I decided to play around with creating a version that contained only “real” (if you can count tequila as real food) ingredients.  It was tough, but I struggled through the testing . . .

Here’s the version I came up with:"Real" Margarita

“Real” Margaritas

Serves 2-4

7 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice (about 6 limes)

2 oz. fresh squeezed orange juice (1 orange)

2 oz. tequila

2 oz. triple sec

1 T. honey

1 cup crushed ice

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend just until mixed.  Serve in a glass rimmed with a cut lime and salt.  I might even add a drop of Lime or Citrus Fresh Essential Oil to bump up the citrus flavor.
