Do you find it hard to eat enough fruits and vegetables every day? Current guidelines recommend at least 5 servings a day, but many health experts recommend even more (examples HERE, HERE and HERE). I know that sounds like a lot of food, but remember that a serving is typically considered half a cup or a small piece of fruit.
Let me help you EASILY achieve that goal every day:This week’s challenge is to eat at least 3 servings of fruits and/or vegetables before 3:00!
Pretty obvious isn’t it? If it’s hard to do this, by enjoying these foods early in the day, you’ll easily meet the daily recommended servings! Plus, let’s be real here – eating more fruits and veggies will make you feel better and healthier. Filling up on nutritious, low calorie foods will give you energy, help you lose weight and the fiber in them will fill you up and help you avoid those sweet and junky foods later in the day.
So simple. Have a piece of fruit every morning with or before breakfast. At least three or four days a week have a vegetable for breakfast – in an omelet or scrambled egg is the easiest! Then, have another vegetable for lunch (at least one) and another piece of fruit. If you didn’t have the morning vegetable, make sure you have two veggies for lunch. Voila! Three servings before dinner!
