In 2013, I’m going to challenge you in little ways each week.  None of these challenges will be difficult, but all of them will improve your health and your life.  I encourage you to check back every Tuesday and take the weekly challenge!

For the first week, I’d like you to drink more water.  Seems easy enough, but most of us are chronically dehydrated.  So let’s change that this week!

Why drink water?

Water is in every cell, organ and tissue – it helps keep our body temperature normal, helps lubricate and cushion our joints, helps us get rid of waste and keeps us feeling strong and energetic.

Drinking plenty of water keeps your skin hydrated and moisturized – who doesn’t want great skin?

Water can help you lose weight!  Drink water first and you may be able to bypass that snack.

Water can relieve pain – sometimes headaches or muscle pain are caused by dehydration.

How can I drink more water?

A few recommendations that work for me:

  • drink a glass first thing in the morning – I drink a full glass before I “allow” myself my morning cup of coffee
  • make water your beverage of choice in restaurants – not only will you save money, you’ll easily consume a couple of glasses
  • find a water bottle you love and keep it with you – aim to fill it up and drink it at least 2x a day

Now that you know why and how to drink more water – take the challenge.  Double your current water intake for the next seven days and see how great you feel at the end of the week!
