Although I love oatmeal all year, in winter it is especially appealing. Oatmeal toppings

To make it more enticing for those in my family who aren’t fans, I took a page from a recent hotel we stayed at and create an oatmeal buffet.

Something about getting to make your OWN bowl and customize it however your heart desires (even a little chocolate!) makes it much easier for those non-oatmeal lovers.

This would also be terrific for guests – easy for you and fun for them.  Not to mention that oatmeal is VERY economical AND healthy.  Oatmeal is full of fiber which can help you stay full longer, lose weight and lower cholesterol.  It also contains Vitamin B – which can help increase energy.  Who wouldn’t want to start their day with these healthy benefits?

Oatmeal Buffet

Dried oatmeal (not the quick cooking kind – regular and/or steel-cut)

Milk, coconut or nut milk, or water

toppings (ideas include: honey, chocolate chips, dried fruit, chopped apples, nuts, frozen berries)

Step one:  Prepare the oatmeal according to directions – use milk or a milk substitute if you want it creamier – I prefer water myself as I like my oatmeal “hearty” versus creamy.

Step two:  Set out all the ingredients on a tray or in cute little bowls.

Step three:  Give everyone a bowl of oatmeal and let them customize to their heart’s desire.  Enjoy!

Oatmeal with toppingsThis oatmeal bar can be as elaborate as simple as you like.  You can do one kind of oatmeal and a few toppings, or oatmeal, steel cut oatmeal and even quinoa and a ton of toppings.  Have fun with it!

A warm, comforting bowl of oatmeal is the perfect way to start your day.  Need more help with getting your mornings off on the right foot?  Get your FREE copy of my e-course “Discover the Perfect Start to Your Day.” right HERE!
