Time for another little book review – I ended up with more non-fiction this month, but finished out the month with a couple of terrific novels.  HERE is the list of all the books I read last month, and below is a short summary of my favorites!

books to read

Sneak peek of November books!

NON-FICTION

I have to admit that this book by Dan Harris really surprised me.  I picked it up on a whim at the library from the new books section and found it both fascinating and useful.  Dan was the ultimate skeptic when it comes to religion, mediation, etc. and through his research and experiences found a valid connection between meditation and increasing happiness.  If you are at all interested in meditation or just like biography-type books, this is a solid recommendation.  My rating 4 out of 5.

Turning Pro: Tap Your Inner Power and Create Your Life’s Work was the assigned reading for November for my coaching program (Mentor Masterclass).  I added it to my Kindle and it proved to be full of juicy little tidbits and bits of advice like “Our lives are entirely up to us.”  I especially liked (and resonated with) the concept of a shadow career.  I found myself taking notes in my journal as I read along.  It’s a quick but beneficial read – my rating 4 out of 5.

FICTION

Finally towards the end of the month, I turned back to fiction. Big Little Lies took me a while to read (it was a decent sized book), but I really enjoyed it.   There was a bit of a mystery involved while the plot line wove together the lives of three main characters (who were all very different).  I found myself rooting for all three and hoping things would turn out okay for each of them.  My rating 4 out of 5.

I’m not sure how much reading I’ll get through in December – things are a little bit crazy right now, but I AM in the midst of a few good books.  What was the best book you’ve read lately?  Share in the comments as I’d love to get some more recommendations to add to my list!
