As I mentioned earlier this year, one of the things I’m interested in learning more about this year is essential oils.   This month, I did some research and enjoyed using the oil “Joy.”

Joy

Joy is a special blend of oils including geranium, lemon, tangerine, ylang ylang, jasmine and more.  It has a light scent (I enjoyed it although I’ve heard not everyone does).

There are a lot of uses for this oil – it’s supposed to be a great way to boost your mood, so using it as a perfume, on your clothing, in lotion or in your bath are all great ways to enjoy it.  It’s also a very calming scent, so nice to use on a cotton ball in your car or in a diffuser when the family is cranky.

I’ll be honest that since I’m generally a pretty upbeat and happy person, I can’t see a discernible difference in my mood.  I did use it often while working at my desk – a dab or two on my shoulders to relieve tension.  I purchased a car diffuser, so I’ll try that on our next road trip.  I’d also be curious to try it out on someone who was going through a rough time or feeling down to see if it had any affect on their mood.

Has anyone else tried this blend?  What did you think?

Next month, I’m going to spend some time learning about and using Lemon oil – I see some good cleaning solutions in my future, and it’s a really affordable oil, so a great one to play around with!

If you are interested in learning about the properties of these oils, I plan on researching and trying out a different one each month this year.  They can be pretty pricey, but if you join Young Living you can get the distributor discount which helps a bit.  I joined simply for the discount.  They do have a lot of good deals (free product, etc.), so if you are interested, click here and check it out.  Or feel free to contact me and I’ll help you through.  You can also just buy them directly off my site, or try another brand – just make sure to do your research carefully to ensure it’s a quality oil.
