Tuesday Challenge – fit in little bits of extra exercise!

Tuesday Challenge – fit in little bits of extra exercise!

Now that the busy holiday season is beginning (with several November Birthdays it starts with Halloween for us!), time to exercise gets more and more valuable.  Not to mention all the extra holiday calories you are consuming. Did you know that the average American gains 3 to 6 pounds from October 31st until January 1st?  Crazy right? So how can you combat that weight gain while still enjoying yourself? This week I challenge you to fit in extra bits of exercise this holiday season. Now this isn’t an excuse to quit your regular exercise sessions, but it IS a way to help you fight the extra calories from holiday cookies and meals. How to go about it?  Simple – just find ANY excuse to burn a few extra calories a day.  For example: Park far away from the mall or office entrance. Take the stairs instead of the elevator – both up and down Have five minutes until your next meeting?  Walk the hallways – or even out to your mailbox and around the house and back. Use commercial breaks to march in place or jog up and down your stairs. You get the idea – basically try to add extra activity to your day EVERY day. What are you going to do this week to burn some extra calories?  Share in the comments – I’d love to hear some more creative ideas! Need to start your day off on the right foot?  It’s a sure-fire way to have extra time to burn those calories!  Check out my FREE 3-day Refresh and enjoy your mornings instead of stressing through them!...
Tuesday Challenge – Try an Essential Oil

Tuesday Challenge – Try an Essential Oil

This week I have a new and FUN challenge for you. I challenge you to give essential oils a try. These oils are truly amazing – they can assist with healing, relieve pain, enhance your mood, improve your cleaning, aid in digestion, increase energy, and on and on. Plus, they smell GREAT! Of course I’m a big proponent of Young Living – after doing my research, I feel that is the right brand for my family. However, I’m not naive enough to think that is the only quality brand of essential oils available. Just do your own research and decide upon a brand you feel safe using (therapeutic grade is best) and give them a try. Here are some of my favorite uses: Drinking them (ONLY a quality brand that is considered safe to ingest – I KNOW most Young Living Oils are, but I CAN’T recommend any other brands for ingesting as I just don’t know enough about them). Lemon water and Peppermint are my favorites. Cleaning – a few of my favorite recipes are in this post. As a pain reliever.  PanAway, Peppermint and Lavender all do a great job. As an air freshener – no more chemical laden plug-ins for me! And there are many more.  Have an issue you’d like to find an oil to help with?  Contact me and I’ll do my best to help you find the oil(s) that will be best for you.  Enjoy this week and let us know in the comments what you try! Tuesday Challenge – Be Spontaneous!

This week I challenge you to be spontaneous! Try something new, step out of your comfort zone, say yes to something when you’d normally say no. Tuesday Challenge – Eggs for Breakfast

Tuesday Challenge – Eggs for Breakfast

Are you a fan of eggs?  Or are you still scared to enjoy them thanks to the old belief that they raised cholesterol? Eggs are a perfect breakfast food.  They are filling, full of protein and vitamin D.  One egg in the morning is NOT going to be an issue for your cholesterol level, but it IS going to help keep you full until lunchtime. This week I challenge you to enjoy eggs for breakfast two or three times! My favorite way to prepare eggs for breakfast is a veggie omelet – I can load up on the veggies (very healthy) and get by with just one egg. Other great options are scrambled, hard or even boiled.  Really there are so many ways to cook an egg it’s pretty hard to get tired of eating them. The biggest question these days is which eggs to buy.  Some people believe all eggs are the same.  I fall into the group that feels a truly cage free (like running around in the yard) chicken produces the best egg.  Not only does it feel like it would be better (I like to think of the chickens as behaving like – and eating – what chickens should), but you can actually SEE the difference in the yolks.  The eggs I get from a local farm have a much darker yolk.  And the taste . . . so.much.better.  Even my husband (who is pretty skeptical) has to admit the local farm eggs are much tastier. If you can, check out your local farms or farmers markets and try to find a source for eggs....
Tuesday Challenge – Plan now for weather changes!

Tuesday Challenge – Plan now for weather changes!

Guess what?   Winter is coming. We can’t change that, BUT we can be ready for it this year.  Instead of waking up to a morning that is too cold to go for a run or bike ride, how about THIS year, you are ready with an alternate workout plan! No excuses if you plan ahead of time! Winter is the PERFECT time to try something new.  Check out this blog post for some winter workout ideas. Or consider joining a gym for the winter (or the YMCA), picking up a few new exercise videos, or signing up for a dance class or even boot camp. Sit down and make a list of FIVE workouts you can do this winter regardless of the weather. This week’s challenge is to create a winter workout plan! Once your list is complete, when you wake up one morning to a mountain of snow outside your house, you are ready to stay active and on top of your daily exercising!  You will feel GREAT about yourself! Need more time in your day to exercise?  Get your morning off to a great start and squeeze that workout in first thing!  Get your copy of my FREE e-course “Discover the Perfect Start to Your...
Tuesday Challenge – Make a Date!

Tuesday Challenge – Make a Date!

We are back on relationships for this week’s challenge.  Hopefully you’ve booked (and enjoyed) that massage from last week!  As a Health Coach, I’m obviously a firm believer in exercising frequently and eating fresh, nutritious foods.  However, if you want to feel terrific, happy and satisfied with your life, it’s just as important to pay attention to your personal relationships as well as your spiritual life. Today we are focusing on relationships – specifically enjoying a date night this week! Pretty simple challenge – plan a date for later this week.  Don’t have a significant other?  Then plan a date for YOURSELF!  Think about what YOU would enjoy doing and plan an evening doing just that. Don’t fall into the typical “dinner out” date either.  If you do plan on eating as part of your date night, how about trying a different cuisine?  Or a new up and coming restaurant?  Make it something special.  Or forget dinner altogether and do something fun – miniature golf, bowling, a painting or cooking class – and then top the night off with a drink or coffee and dessert. Get that calendar out right now and block out some time for later this week – you’ll be glad you took the time!  Share in the comments what you plan to do – let’s give each other some great new ideas! Looking for a solution to starting out each day feeling great and getting on top of things (instead of always struggling to stay afloat?).  Check out my signature program “Make the Most of EVERY Day” and start creating the life you desire!...
