Let’s Spend THIS Fall Learning!

Let’s Spend THIS Fall Learning!

This month I’m finishing up a year long life coach training program.  I’ve learning so many amazing tools in the past year – tools that I’ve been able to put to good use with the ladies I coach.  However, knowing that this course is ending, I’ve been giving some thought as to how I’d like to fill that time.  I definitely want to spend more time learning about and enjoying my essential oils, but there are also SO many other topics I’m curious about.  So, how can I thoughtfully not only learn about new things but actually APPLY them to my life?  After all, as I’ve shared before you should never stop growing! Since I love to read, I’m always picking up interesting books that I’ve got in a big basket for “someday.”  A lot of those books are programs/ courses/ etc.  For fun, I made a big pile of them and discovered if I read one or two a month, I’d have a full YEAR of learning on my hands.  All on topics that have sparked my interest at one time or another!  And I didn’t even pull out my e-books (at least not yet!). After a bit of organizing by category, I’ve come up with a plan for the rest of 2015.  I’ve got a nice variety of topics (productivity, simplification, meditation and crafting – see the picture to the right for a sneak peek), and a loose plan as to how I’ll attack each one. Want to follow along?  I truly believe motivation and accountability is the BEST way to actually apply learning to your life, so each...

Tuesday Challenge – Go for a Walk!

I know that tomorrow is Christmas Day.  Which means today is Christmas Eve.  And I know that you are busy, so busy. Guess what, that’s all the more reason to go for a walk today.  A 15 to 30 minute walk will energize you, clear your mind and get you ready for the rest of the day. Today I challenge you to take a walk! Don’t think about it, don’t think about how you don’t have time.  Just go do it.  Then come back and let me know how you feel. Happy Holidays!  I’ll be back Friday, so no recipe tomorrow – after all, it IS Christmas! Just a few days left to sign up for the Healthy Eating Made Easy program – I’m so excited about it – I think it’ll be a terrific way for you to easily learn the basics around healthy eating – you’ll feel GREAT once you’ve completed...
Tuesday Challenge – Drink More Water!

Tuesday Challenge – Drink More Water!

This week I’m actually repeating a challenge, but I think it’s super important this time of the year! I challenge you to drink more water. It’s cold outside, and for me, I prefer warm drinks like coffee right now.  But, just because it’s cold doesn’t mean my body doesn’t need it’s water.  In fact, the cold weather can really dry you out and drinking plenty of water is like moisturizing yourself from the inside – it definitely helps. So, I challenge you to drink at least half your body weight in water everyday this week.   Coffee doesn’t count (bummer), diet coke definitely doesn’t count – just water! If you want to bump up the flavor, add a drop of Lemon, Lime, Orange, Citrus Fresh or Peppermint oil to your water.  Just be sure you use an oil that is safe to consume (I prefer Young Living), and you use glass versus plastic as the oil can react dangerously with the plastic. My plan is to get out my trusty glass water bottle (pictured above) and fill it up twice a day.  If I add that to my morning warm water with lemon and cayenne I’ll hit my goal. Interested in more info as to why (and how) to drink water?  Check out this post:  Why you should drink more...
Tuesday Challenge – Make the Season Special

Tuesday Challenge – Make the Season Special

This week I challenge you to begin to make this month of holidays special for your family and friends. You can begin small, but I’d love to see you do something that could even become an annual tradition, so I encourage you to think long-term – after all you still have several weeks before Christmas! Some ideas: 1.  Bring a friend a coffee and muffin to work or some healthy treats for an evening snack. 2.  Begin a family tradition (here are a few ideas). 3.  Focus on family versus commercialism – encourage your kids to do the same. 4.  Help someone else – preferably as a family. 5.  Host a Christmas party – dinner too much?  How about brunch or drinks and appetizers? What are you going to do to make this a special month?  Please share in the comments – it’ll spark ideas for all of us! Just a few more days until the New Year is upon us – make this year the year you create a happier, healthier life!  Shared on Friendship...
Tuesday Challenge – What are YOU thankful for?

Tuesday Challenge – What are YOU thankful for?

With Thanksgiving coming up this week, I thought I’d tie our weekly challenge into the holiday. This week I challenge you to consider what YOU are thankful for? Don’t just think about it, but take a few moments and write it down.  Go ahead.  Right now.  Doesn’t that give you a little warm and fuzzy feeling inside? Want to take it a step further? If you are thankful for someone in particular, tell them.  If it is a “thing” or event, share it with someone else if you can. Taking a few moments each day to consider what we are thankful for is a great way to create a happier life – giving thanks conjures up good feelings which can spill on over into the rest of your actions for the day. If you want to make this a regular practice (and I recommend it highly), check out this post on an easy way to create a gratitude “journal.” Get ready to learn how to be a healthy eater!  Enrollment opens next week for my newsletter subscribers, so if you haven’t gotten on the list, sign up HERE! Tuesday Challenge – Try a Winter Veggie!

Tuesday Challenge – Try a Winter Veggie!

Sadly the summer veggies are gone.  I hate to see the season of juicy tomatoes and crisp corn on the cob end.  In the summer it’s EASY to eat lots of vegetables.  There are so many fresh, delicious and healthy veggies available – and at such great prices. Now that the weather has turned, you can still buy tomatoes in the store, but why would you want to?  If you’ve enjoyed a ripe, just picked from the vine tomato in August, you KNOW that the ones you buy now don’t hold a candle to it. So don’t bother.  Enjoy vegetables that taste GOOD this time of the year. Now is the time to dust off the recipes for regular and sweet potatoes and squash! This week I challenge you to enjoy fresh fall and winter veggies at least three times this week. Need some inspiration?  Here are some of my favorite recipes: Sweet Potato Chips Roasted Butternut Squash Butternut Squash and Apple Soup Baked Potato Soup My version of French Fries Fake Spaghetti What winter veggies will you enjoy this week?  How do you like to prepare them? There’s still time to get your PanAway oil this month and join us in the Oil of the Month Club.  If your muscles are sore, you owe it to yourself to give this oil a try!...
