Kick Start Your Home

Let’s talk about your home this week.  I bet you are asking yourself “what in the heck does my house have to do with my health and having a terrific summer?”  Right?  Hear me out … When your house is a mess, full of clutter and not a cozy and comfortable place to be, it’s hard to relax and enjoy life.  It’s challenging to prepare healthy meals in a messy or disorganized kitchen.  If you’re trying to work out at home, it’s impossible to manage if there is so much stuff lying around that you don’t have room to move. Plus, doesn’t it feel great to enjoy your home and feel good about it?  Be able to have friends over at the spur of the moment to share life?  So yes, your house CAN contribute to a healthier and happier life.  Ready to get started? Today I have a simple task for you.  Grab a bag or basket and walk around the house for a few minutes.  Your goal is to find 5 things to either give away, sell or throw away.  This should be pretty easy the first time.  However, tomorrow you are going to do the same thing.  Then again the next day and so on.  By the time we “meet” on the Facebook event on Thursday at 1:00ish EST you’ll have removed TWENTY things from your house.  Wow!  That’s less clutter, less stuff to take care of (and therefore more time for other things) and a strong start toward an overall healthier and happier home. Kick Start Your Exercise

Kick Start Your Exercise

Did you track your workouts last week?  How many days are you actually working out?  More or less than you thought? Although many of my clients THINK they work out regularly, once they start tracking their workouts, they realize they aren’t doing nearly as much as they thought they were.  Tracking your workouts is eye-opening.  But don’t worry, we can and will fix that! Today I want you to think about where you went wrong in the past.  Were you doing workouts you dreaded?  Trying to fit them in at the wrong time of the day?  Or maybe you are already working out consistently but feeling bored or blah about it. This week, continue tracking your workouts.  Some people like to check it off their to-do list.  Others find it motivating to use a fit bit or apple watch.  Try out a few tracking methods and decide which one you like best.  Make it your goal to “check off” at least two workouts by Thursday.  Then, join me on Facebook Thursday at 12:45 EST for a live event where we will go over week 2 of your worksheet and come up with a plan to make it FUN to exercise. Want more individual attention while kick starting your life?  Check out all the ways we can work together to create a life YOU...
Spring Cleansing – Exercise

Spring Cleansing – Exercise

It’s the last week of our Spring Cleansing – and this week we are talking about exercise. If you’ve been doing the same routine for months now, you may be starting to notice that you aren’t enjoying or getting as much out of your workouts as you did in the past.  It’s very common to start to just “dial in” our workouts when they are the same day after day.  As soon as that happens, we lose the intensity and some of the benefit.  What a waste! When you start feeling this way, you know it is time to switch things up.  What I like to do is try to find something VERY different from what I’ve been doing.  It means you have to really concentrate and focus on the activity – and when you are paying more attention you are automatically working harder. For example – if you’ve been running, try biking or swimming.  If you’ve been doing yoga for a while, start walking or hiking in a beautiful or calming environment.  Maybe you’ve been lifting weights?  Give pilates a try.  You’ll still get similar benefits, but the exercise itself is quite different from what your body and mind have been used to. I plan on adding a lot of hiking and biking to my summer workout, and pulling my yoga mat out for daily pilates.  What is your plan? Need an easy and environmentally safe way to clean your yoga mat?  Here is my favorite spray: Yoga Mat Spray small glass or metal spray bottle water Thayer Lavender Witch Hazel, 12 Fluid Ounce tea tree essential oil,...

The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle Sale

If you’ve been a reader of mine for any length of time, you know I only promote products I believe in. As an added bonus, I love promoting products created by businesses with integrity (you know what I mean?). Well, today I’ve found both. Recently, I started working with the Ultimate Bundles team. Now, Ryan and Stephanie are normal parents who try to save money at the supermarket, worry about what their five kids are eating (and how to keep them healthy), and try to juggle their online businesses while maintaining their relationships with each other and their kids. (Does any of that sound familiar?) But that’s not all. They run their bundle business with super-high standards. Questionable content? Nope, they are picky about what they include in their bundles. Sleazy online salespeople? Give their full money-back guarantee a try and you’ll find out they stick to their word. Anyway, all of that to say: they truly care about running a reputable business! Ryan, Stephanie, and their entire team have been putting together some incredible bundles of digital resources for five years now. You may have seen bundles around from time to time, but here’s what I love about Ultimate Bundles: the quality and value of the resources included in each bundle how easy it is to download and use their amazing customer service team and the physical bonus offers included with each one. And because of your interest in getting more done each day, taking care of yourself and your family and having fun, I have a feeling you’re going to love their newest bundle, and I want to...

Exercise for Stress Relief

Exercise for stress relief?  Yeah right!  Adding exercise will add to my stress – it’s “one more thing to do.”  Ever said this?  I know I have, and I’ve studied the benefits of exercise, so I KNOW that it will actually reduce my stress levels.  But that’s easier to intellectually know than to actually do when stress levels are high and life is crazy busy.  I get it. Since I find myself having busy weeks often these days, I’ve come up with a few methods to sneak in exercise, along with a plan for when I’m feeling very stressed that will help me feel calmer and ready to take on the world again. Yoga or pilates are always my stress relief go to.  They are perfect exercises for stress reduction, feel great and you can benefit from even 15 to 20 minutes.  In addition, you won’t get all hot and sweaty, so no need to add another shower to your day.  I’ve gone so far as to do a 10 to 20 minute pilates routine in the middle of the day on my office floor – without changing into workout clothing.  Is it ideal?  Nope.  Does it get the job done?  Yep. Walking outside.  There is just something about fresh air and a lovely environment that make you feel better about life.  A brisk walk is perfect for when life is crazy, and if you have a good friend, family or dog to walk with you are doing double duty with relationship building or pet care!  Take ten minutes before work, at lunch and after dinner and you’ve done 30 minutes.  Often...
Create a Joy Generating Routine

Create a Joy Generating Routine

How often do you wake up feeling TERRIFIC?  I mean  SUPER terrific?  Ready to jump out of bed and start the day just knowing it will be fantastic. It’s an amazing feeling when that happens, but for most people, that isn’t an everyday occurrence.  Even the happiest people don’t always wake up feeling fabulous. There are days you wake up grumpy, tired or just dreading another iteration of the daily grind.  Once you’ve started down this negative path, it can be really hard to turn your day around.  You find yourself without patience, snapping at other people and just not enjoying your life. If you want to start your days with joy, I have a basic recipe for you that I call my “Joy Generating Routine.”  It includes some movement, some gratefulness and some indulgence. Sounds lovely, right? The best part is that if you have a plan like this in place, you can invoke your routine any morning you are feeling down.   Short on time?  Make sure you have a shortened version at the ready too. Although this needs to be tailored for YOU, I’m sure you’d like to see an example.  Here is mine: My Ideal Joy Generating Routine: 20 minutes of yoga (Daily Yoga), a fresh, hot cup of coffee with a splash of my favorite vanilla creamer and 15 minutes of devotions/ writing a line in my daily journal with what I’m grateful for, and running a few drops of Joy through my hair.  If I can add in a ten minute walk outside in the fresh air the routine is perfection! My shortened...
