Are you taking the weekly challenge of drinking more water? Then these recipes will help you out!
Ready for a yummy way to drink more water? I gave you a quick little version before the New Year, but I had enough questions on it that I though I’d better expand! If you have trouble drinking enough water every day, or if you need to encourage your kids to drink more water, fix a pitcher of flavored water and serve it with dinner – you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much more you drink and how much your family enjoys the little (and I do mean little – less than five minutes) extra effort.
Slice one lemon and one lime. Add to a gallon of fresh water. Serve over ice.
Slice 1/2 an organic cucumber. Add to a gallon of fresh water. Serve over ice.
Slice one orange. Add to a gallon of fresh water. Serve over ice.
Rinse 1 cup mixture of blueberries, blackberries and/or raspberries (raspberries are especially good). Mash them up a bit with a spoon. Add to a gallon of fresh water. Serve over ice.
A few tips when making flavored waters:
- Clean your produce well – the peel of the fruit goes into the water, so suffice it to say it should be clean.
- Use organic fruits and veggies when possible.
- Want to mix things up? Instead of fresh water, add carbonated water – it makes for a fun, fizzy change of pace.
- Add a few leaves of fresh mint to any of the above waters – this is very refreshing in the summer!
Try a few of these this week and then create your own combos! If you come up with something especially yummy, I’d love for you to share it in the comments!
